The laboratory covers educational and research activities related to the topic of structural analysis. More specifically:

1. Educational and fundamental research.

2. Participation in projects of applied research (R&D).

3. Education and training activities .

4. Consulting services.

5. Publications.

The laboratory covers mainly the following topics.

  • Development of analysis methods (F.E.M., B.E.M., etc).
  • Modeling of the static and dynamic behaviour of structures.
  • Design of structures (steel, composite, reinforced concrete, etc).
  • Development of methods for the evaluation of the seismic resistance and rehabilitation of existing structures

The laboratory relies on the following equipment:

  • 4 Pentium III 750 Mhz computers with 19" displays
  • 3 Pentium IV 1.7 Ghz computers with 19" displays
  • 1 heavy duty Laser printer (Α4/Α3 paper handling)
  • SAP2000 software for the static and dynamic analysis of structures.
  • CUBUS A.G. Zurich structural analysis and design software with network license for 25 concurrent users.
  • Custom software for the treatment of special problems (contact and friction, plasticity, large displacements etc) which was developed by the contribution of the laboratory members.
